About Seven Mages
Seven Mages is a small independent game development studio founded by Jeroen Derwort and Bowie Derwort. The studio focuses on creating memorable, intuitive, and accessible games for players of all ages.
The creative partnership behind Seven Mages goes back many years. Jeroen and Bowie first worked together on Avalon, a classic top-down RPG released in 1998 under the MiG label, short for MSX is Great. In Avalon, players take on the role of Mace, a young hero trying to save the last remnants of humanity on the distant planet Avalon after Earth has been destroyed. The game was downloaded more than 200,000 times and won the ZDNet Shareware Award in 2000.
In 2001, Jeroen and Bowie teamed up again to launch Online Soccer Manager, also known as OSM. OSM is a social free-to-play football management game in which players and their friends take control of a football club and guide it to success. The game went on to reach millions of players worldwide and became part of Gamebasics in 2004. During this period, MiG Designs became dormant.
After Gamebasics was sold to Miniclip in 2020, Jeroen and Bowie returned to independent game development and reformed as Seven Mages Studio. Their first new title under the Seven Mages name was Penguin Panic, a family-friendly arcade platformer.
Penguin Panic is a cheerful arcade game in which players guide a penguin through fast-paced and chaotic challenges. Designed to be easy to pick up and fun for all ages, the game combines simple controls, playful visuals, and light puzzle-action gameplay.
Penguin Panic has been released on multiple platforms and stores, including iOS, Android, Apple TV, Android TV, the Epic Games Store, Steam, and Nintendo Switch.
Today, Seven Mages Studio is based at THUAS GameLab, where it continues to build accessible, family-friendly games with a strong focus on fun, clarity, and timeless playability.
