Miniclip Nederland (F.K.A. Gamebasics)

Miniclip Nederland is a Dutch game development studio based in Zoetermeer and part of the global Miniclip family. Formerly known as Gamebasics, the studio is best known for creating and developing Online Soccer Manager, one of the world’s longest-running and most successful football management games. What started as a small passion project grew into a global free-to-play sports game played by millions of football fans around the world.

Since becoming part of Miniclip in 2021, Miniclip Nederland has continued to build on its strong heritage in accessible, social, and competitive sports games. The studio develops and supports titles such as Online Soccer Manager, Mini Basketball, and Football Head Coach, combining Dutch game development experience with Miniclip’s international reach in mobile gaming.

With a focus on sports, community, and long-term player engagement, Miniclip Nederland continues to create games that are easy to start, fun to master, and enjoyed by players worldwide.

In 2025, Miniclip Nederland / Gamebasics was named Best Studio at the Dutch Game Awards in Breda.


Origins of Gamebasics
Gamebasics was founded in 2004 when Jeroen and Bowie Derwort's attic room project Online Soccer Manager needed a studio. They teamed up with Frank Tijhuis, with the aim of further expanding the popular football management worldwide. OSM became very popular when an Arabic and mobile versions were released, in addition to the version for the web browser. They released several other management games but around 2010 decided to focus on the success of OSM.

OSM has since become one of the leading football management games on mobile with over 3 million monthly active users.

Gamebasics was acquired by the Anglo/Swiss Tencent studio Miniclip early 2021, and has since rebranded into Miniclip Nederland.
